In 99 US participants from the REPRIEVE trial, pitavastatin prevented an increase in the pace of biological aging—measured by DunedinPACE—over 24 months, while the placebo arm showed a significant rise (P = .049). These findings suggest statin therapy may counteract the accelerated epigenetic aging commonly seen in people living with HIV, supporting further investigation into statins as longevity interventions in this population.
