Biological Aging
Aging shows up outwardly as wrinkles, gray hair, and reduced mobility, but those traits reflect deeper molecular processes happening all the way down to your DNA. Because these processes don't unfold at the same pace for everyone, people who share a birth year can look and feel significantly older or younger than one another. We study these mechanisms through the lens of epigenetics, the factors that influence gene activity without changing the DNA sequence itself.
